Q: When will I receive my butterflies?
A: You will receive your butterflies the day BEFORE your event.
We ship ALL live insect Priority overnight. You will receive an email from fedex as soon as we make your shipping label, they pick up your package and as soon as it is delivered to your door step. Your responsibility is to keep your butterflies cool until 45 minutes before you release them, cool mean between 40-60 degrees. I feed and exercise everyone before they leave. Do not worry about them being hungry.
Q: Why do LIVE butterflies need to be shipped overnight?
A: Live insects need to be shipped overnight because we ship them in a cooler with ice packs, we need our customers to continue keeping the butterflies cool so that the butterflies remain dormant and stress free while traveling. We are also regulated on how we ship live insects. ALL live insects must be shipped priority overnight. We charge a flat fee of $45 for overnight shipping. We ship FEDEX priority overnight for every order.
Q: What if my butterfly release is on a Sunday or Monday?
A: When you enter your release date and pay the extra $15 for a Sunday or Monday release, you are paying extra for Saturday delivery. FEDEX is not open on Sundays for delivery and it goes against our code of ethics to let them sit in a hot warehouse over the weekend to be delivered to you on a Monday. We have the same guarantee if you are receiving them on Saturday and releasing on Monday. The butterflies are fed before they leave and need to be kept cool.
Q: Can I pick up my butterflies?
A: Yes. As long as you are in the Orlando, FL area that is not a problem. Please make a note on your order form about pick up date and time and we will adjust your bill accordingly so that all shipping fees are taken off.
Q: Are the butterflies going to be dead when I get them?
A: NO. The butterflies are shipped safely to you in a foam lined insulted cooler type of box with ice packs. I hand pick each butterfly that is shipped, making sure they are packaged properly. The butterflies being dead is the last of your worries.
We 100% guarantee all of our butterflies to arrive to you alive and on time.
Q: How do I take care of my butterflies after receiving them?
A: The care instructions start on the outside of the box. There is a bright green stacker that says LIVE BUTTERFLIES PLEASE KEEP US COOL, OPEN AND INSPECT PACKAGE. Please open your shipping box and check the ice packs that are inside the box. If the ice packs are NOT frozen, you can refreeze the ice packs while replacing them with your own. If you do not have ice packs, you can put your butterflies in your fridge (NOT freezer) but do not let the butterflies go below 40 degrees. They should not be left in freezing temperatures.
Let your butterflies warm up in their natural environment (outside) for at least 45 minutes before your release to give them time to warm up and get ready to fly.
Q: What is the difference between the Painted Lady butterfly and the Monarch?
A: #1 your budget. With the Painted Ladies you get more bang for your buck. The difference between them is the Monarch glides (flies like a bird) the Painted Lady flutters (moves wings faster), the Painted Lady tends to stick around a little longer than the Monarch. The Monarch is bigger than the Painted Lady. As you can see in the picture with the Painted Lady and the ruler that not all Painted Ladies are created equal. I take pride in my butterflies and having big beautiful butterflies. They are NOT as big as Monarchs but are still beautiful and very impressive.
Both species are orange, black and white.
Q: Are the butterflies I am ordering indigenous to my area?
A: Yes. We are regulated by the USDA which species we can ship where and also due to our code of ethics we will not ship any butterflies that we do not have USDA permits for. Butterflies are also natural pollinators. Once released they go back out into the environment and help the bees pollinate and also help the depleting population of butterflies.
Q: How far in advance should I order?
A: Please try and have your order in at least 2 weeks in advance. We do love last minute orders but only as long as we can fill the order. Calling and reserving your butterflies is the best way to ensure we have them for your event.
Q: Will I receive a confirmation email after placing my order?
A: YES. As soon as you place your order you will receive a confirmation email with the email you provided with us.
If you do not see it, please check your junk or spam mail. If you still do not see it, please call our office so that I can forward it over to you. 407.896.8389
Please check over all information so that we can make sure everything is perfect for you.
Q: What is a release date?
A: It is the date you are releasing the butterflies. You will be getting your butterflies the day before your event. Please give us the proper shipping address and information to make sure the butterflies will be cared for properly.
